After viewing these websites, write 2 paragraphs explaining the composition of DNA and how it replicates. This will be due at the begining of our next class.

This website will help to explain the process of protein synthesis. The example of the protein that causes a firefly to glow is used.

After viewing these websites please answer the following questions:

2) What is the role of tRNA? mRNA?
3) What is a codon?
4) What bases are found in a molecule of RNA?
5) Suppose that instead of the correct sequence of AGC, and error occured and the sequence was changed to ATC. What would happen during transcription? Translation?

Mutations

What is a mutation?
At this website you will learn about mutations. You will be asked to predict the amino acid sequence from the DNA strand given. The you will answer the questions at the bottom of the page (you can check your answers) and then work on the questions on the side of the page. These questions will ask you to perform different mutations on your amino acid sequence. These will be turned into me at the begining of our next class.
