We have discussed prejudice (and racism, a type of prejudice) a lot while reading this book. Now it's your chance to prove how much you know about these themes by writing a persuasive essay explaining examples of prejudice in To Kill a Mockingbird. This paper is basically in place of an essay test question.

READ THE FOLLOWING PROMPT: This is the GoMyAccess Prompt you are writing this essay on.
TITLE: "Prejudice in To Kill a Mockingbird"
In To Kill a Mockingbird, there are occurrences of different kinds of prejudice. In a well-developed essay, provide evidence to support this statement. Remember to include SPECIFIC details and examples from the novel in your essay (read good and bad examples below).

BAD, VAGUE, NON-SPECIFIC EXAMPLE: Aunt Alexandra was prejudiced.
GOOD, SPECIFIC EXAMPLE: Aunt Alexandra demonstrated prejudice toward Calpurnia when she told her, "Put my bag in the front bedroom," not even acknowledging her or saying hello first (p. 127). This shows that Alexandra did not view Calpurnia as an equal human being worthy of common courtesy; she only saw her as a lower-class being whose only purpose was to serve.
