DATES: You can begin this activity on October 9. You should complete it by October 13. (This week, there is no school on Thursday or Friday.)

OBJECTIVE: MONEY - What a beautiful word! Everyone likes to earn money. Counting money is an important life skill. When you spend money at a store, it is important that you receive the right amount of change. This activity will help you practice what you have been learning about money this year.

MATERIALS: You will print two pages later in the activity, but you'll only turn in one of them. You will need a pencil to complete the activity. No other materials are needed to complete this project.

PROCESS: First, you will visit a Web site that will help you practice adding money. Spend 3-5 minutes exploring this site.

Next, you will practice making change from purchases. To begin, click on the "Medium" button and then the United States flag. You will be shown the amount of a purchase and the amount of money you have. You will need to compute the amount of change you should receive. Play until you are able to get at least 10 of them correct.

Finally, you will print the Shel Silverstein poem and activity. Follow the directions on the pages you print. Keep the poem page at home and return the written activity to school for credit.
