DESK Standard: Identify and measure right, obtuse, and acute angles.

(.)

DATES: You can begin this activity on February 12. You should complete it by February 16.

OBJECTIVE: We have learned about five different types of angles: right, straight, obtuse, right, and reflex. We have also learned how to use a protractor to measure angles. With this lesson, you will practice what you have learned about angles. You will visit a Web site tutorial that will review the different types of angles. Then, you will work through different activities about angles and protractors.

MATERIALS: You will need a kitchen timer or watch set for 15 minutes. No special materials are needed to do this project.

PROCESS: You will visit the Web site listed below. Do not click on the "SKIP INTRO" button until you have watched the entire introduction. After watching the introduction and clicking "SKIP INTRO", you will see a menu called "TEACHER CONTROLS". You should explore the different lessons, in order. Begin with "Show the Angle", then move on to "Make and Measure", and so on. You should move through the lessons, at your own pace, for about 15 minutes.

ASSESSMENT: When you have worked through the lessons for a minimum of 15 minutes, ask a parent to write the words "ANGLES AND PROTRACTORS" in your planner. They should also sign your planner. Show your planner to Mr. Hughes for credit.
